Scope of Practice
Understand that you are here to learn about better health practices and that you may be offered information about food supplements and herbs as a guide to general good health. Fully understand that we are not medical doctors and are not here for medical diagnostic purposes or treatment procedures. You will be required to attest that you are not on this visit or any subsequent visit as an agent for federal, state, or local agencies or on a mission of entrapment or investigation. The services performed here are at all times restricted to consultation on natural health matters intended for the maintenance of the best possible state of natural health and do not involve the diagnosing, treatment, or prescribing or remedies
Massage and bodywork are provided for the basic purpose of relaxation and relief of muscular tension. The therapist may use Swedish, deep tissue, cross fiber, trigger point, myofascial release, or other approved techniques to facilitate the massage. Massage or bodywork should not be construed as a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or treatment and one should see a physician, chiropractor, or other qualified medical specialist for any mental or physical ailment of which they are aware. Massage/bodywork practitioners are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments, diagnose, prescribe, or treat any physical or mental illness, and nothing said in the course of the sesson given should be construed as such.
The first session begins with a health history and an interview. Some medical conditions may be contraindicated for massage. Clients are expected to let us know of any health changes prior to each session. Confidentiality is upheld both during and after the session. Information will not be shared without written consent from the client (HIPPA LAW). The breast area will not be worked without written consent by the client. Proper draping will be maintained during the massage.
Most of our sessions use oils, lotions, or creams. Please let us know of any allergies, and also if anything feels uncomfortable during the massage. If a client experiences any pain or discomfort during the session, they should immediately inform the practitioner so that the pressure and/or strokes may be adjusted to their level of comfort.
A session will not begin if the client is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or inappropriate behavior by a client is cause for immediate termination of the session with full payment expected.
If a client is late for a session, the session will end at the time allotted and full price is expected. If the practitioner is late, the session will last the full time or the rate is discounted. A 24 hour notice is expected for cancellation, if possible.
Our profession ascribes to a code of ethical behavior. Personal and professional boundaries are respected at all times. We keep accurate records of each session. Respect will be maintained with all clients regardless of age, gender, religion, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, body type, political affiliation, and personal habits.
If at any time the client is uncomfortable, the practitioner will discontinue the session.
